Unidirectional Carbon Fiber Fabric In Structural Strengthening

the main application of unidirectional carbon fiber fabric in structural strengthening

Unidirectional Carbon Fiber Fabric In Structural Strengthening

1) Bending and shear strengthening

Bending and shear strengthening are further divided into:

(1) Outsourcing/external bonding unidirectional carbon fiber fabric to strengthen the concrete structure;

(2) Embedded carbon fiber strengthening technology;

(3) Prestressed carbon fiber strengthening.

At present, most of the research and application are focused on the strengthening of concrete structures with outsourcing/external bonding unidirectional carbon fiber fabric. This form mainly includes unidirectional carbon fiber fabric strengthening beams and slabs. Embedded carbon fiber strengthening technology is a strengthening technology developed in recent years. This technology achieves the purpose of strengthening by grooving the surface of the concrete, placing carbon fiber bars or carbon fiber slats and resin in it, which is an important development of the outsourcing/external bonding carbon fiber strengthening technology. Prestressed carbon fiber reinforced concrete is another technology worthy of in-depth study. By prestressing carbon fiber, the advantages of carbon fiber high strength can be fully utilized, and the performance of the structure in the service limit state can be improved.

2) Seismic strengthening of concrete structures

Using unidirectional carbon fiber fabric to wrap concrete columns is an economical and effective method of seismic strengthening. A large number of researches and applications on the mechanical properties of carbon fiber reinforced concrete columns have been carried out all over the world. There have been many successful cases of applying unidirectional carbon fiber sheets to strengthen building structural columns and bridge columns at home and abroad. In order to facilitate construction, a carbon fiber automatic winding system was also developed.

3) strengthening of steel structure, masonry structure, wood structure, etc.

Externally bonded unidirectional carbon fiber fabric or board is an ideal method to strengthen the steel structure. The use of externally bonded carbon fiber to improve the fatigue resistance of the steel structure can avoid residual stress during the strengthening process. In addition, carbon fiber has also been successfully used in masonry and wood structures.

4) strengthening of substructure in complex environment

In recent years, due to environmental impacts, underground foundations have shown deterioration in structural performance and attenuation of resistance. The causes of this situation are complex and numerous, and unidirectional carbon fiber fabric appears to be a viable material for solving the underlying structural problems of complex environments. Moreover, unidirectional carbon fiber fabric has been successfully used to reinforce underwater foundations.

5) strengthening of special structures

In addition to the above-mentioned application areas, unidirectional carbon fiber fabric has also been used for strengthening in bridges, tunnels, tower mast structures, liquid storage tanks, pipes and chimney structures.
